one of the cape may warblers that have excited us this season |
What an amazing day the birds started off low nets were up at 6:00 am but we didn't really start moving until about 9 and we seemed to keep catching birds that I am not used to in any kind of numbers. last fall as an example our biggest day for Philadelphia vireo's was 4 and we banded 13 for all of august. Today we banded 9 and with what we have already managed to catch we have a new august record for Philly's . As well we seem to be catching a lot of cape may warblers this year which I would love to see keep coming As you can see as well redstarts are on the move as well as alder flycatchers . Thanks to all of the help from the extraction crew and a big thank you to Greg Rand for helping with the banding. It is shaping up to be a great fall season so southern banders should get ready. Weather is supposed to be good tomorrow so more updates to come. Banding begins at six sharp so line ups at Tim Horton's are not an excuse . I have tried that line a few times myself. Bird is the word!!
